Life, and Nothing More… (1992) is a movie by Abbas Kiarostami, a famous Iranian director. It is the second film in the Koker Trilogy and is based on real events. The story follows a filmmaker and his son as they travel to a village in Iran after a earthquake. They are looking for two boys who acted in another film, Where Is the Friend’s House? (1987) which was the first film in Koker Trilogy.
The movie doesn’t have a usual story with big dramatic moments. Instead, it feels real like watching everyday people go through their lives. The filmmaker and his son meet survivors along the way. Some have lost their homes, but they still find ways to move forward. The film shows that even after something terrible happens, life continues.

Even though the earthquake caused a lot of destruction, the people don’t give up. Kids still play, and families try to rebuild their homes. The movie doesn’t focus on sadness—it focuses on hope. It shows how strong people can be, even in hard times.

Unlike most movies, this one doesn’t feel scripted. The actors are real people, and their conversations feel natural. Kiarostami makes us feel like we are on the journey with them. The movie teaches us that life always moves forward, no matter what happens.

If you like slow and meaningful movies, Life, and Nothing More… is a great film to watch. It’s not just about an earthquake. It’s about people, survival, and hope.
