Baskets of Kaptai: A Handmade Heritage

Baskets of Kaptai: A Handmade Heritage

On February 20, 2025, I traveled to Kaptai, Rangamati for a two-day trip. As photography is my hobby, I love capturing different cultures and traditions and this tour was a great opportunity to do that.

While exploring the area, I came across a small market where women were weaving beautiful handmade bags. They sat outside their homes and carefully crafting colorful baskets with their hands. Some were big, some were small but each one was unique.

These handmade bags are not just for decoration. They help these women earn a living. Many people in the area rely on this craft to support their families. It made me think about how important traditional skills are, even in today’s modern world.

Photography helps me tell stories and this documentary is a small part of my journey in Kaptai. Through my photos, I hope to show the beauty of handmade crafts and the hardworking people behind them.
