The Trail by Franz Kafka (Book Review)

Book – The Trial
Author – Franz Kafka
Genre – Absurdist Fiction, Philosophical Fiction
Originally published in 1925
Original title: Der Process

This is my second book written by Franz Kafka. The story of The Trial started with a narration that:

“Somebody must have slandered Josef K., for one morning, without having done anything wrong, he was arrested.”

With his groundless and ambiguous arrest, Josef K. quickly finds himself caught up in the mindless bureaucracy of the law and the justice system.

Kafka starts off with these unsettling words, setting the mood for the rest of the story. What comes next is a really troubling tale about a guy who gets caught up in a strange legal system that he didn't even know existed.

This book really makes you think. With everything going on in the world lately, it's pretty scary. We all know laws are supposed to keep things in order. But what if those laws are old-fashioned and actually make things worse? If the people making the laws mess up, it could cause chaos. Old-fashioned laws can mess up modern society big time. Usually, laws make us feel safe. But sometimes, like Josef K. said, you wonder about the people making them and what they're really up to. You might think, "I live in a place with laws and peace, so who's messing with me in my own home?"

The Trial is a strange book but I actually really enjoyed it! It was absurd and dark but it was also very compelling and I was invested in the process of K’s trial.

I have already bought another Franz Kafka book 'Letters to Milena' . Maybe I will start reading in next month. Hope to write a review of it too.

I have already written a review of ""The Metamorphosis"  book by Franz Kafka. You can read if you want from here
