I started reading the book Who Moved My Cheese yesterday at 10:00 pm and finished it now at 12:30 using the Pomodoro method. The book written by Spencer Johnson. It is a short story about how most of us deal with change and how we should do it instead.
The word Cheese is a metaphor for what we want in life. It could be a job, a relationship, money, a big house, freedom, health, recognition, or anything else we desire. The Maze represents where we spend time looking for what we want.
The four imaginary characters pictured in the story—the mice: “Sniff” and “Scurry,” and the Littlepeople: “Hem” and “Haw” represents how people respond to change.
- Sniffs - High awareness. They can sense change quickly and identify possible opportunities.
- Scurrys - Embrace change and quickly look to put it into action. These people can help create the initial momentum in your change journey.
- Hems - Feel afraid and anxious about change.
- Haws - Need evidence that any change is going to work and benefit them.
From the four characters depicted there are three general truths about change. First, change is scary. Second, change is inevitable. It is natural and continuous.Change happens to all of us. Third, change is exciting.
